Tamko Fence Installation: The Torrance Owner’s Guide
Tamko fence installation in Torrance typically runs $3,500 – $9,000 for a complete fence with Tamko composite or vinyl materials, including labor, post-setting, and haul-away of the old fence. We stock Tamko-compatible posts, rails, pickets, and gate hardware in our Torrance trucks, so most installations start within days of your call, not weeks. The most common way homeowners discover they need us: a gate that drags, a post that leans after rain, or a section of pickets that snapped during the Santa Ana winds we get every fall.
Mason Remodeling Co Torrance is an independent installer. We are not affiliated with Tamko, and we recommend their products because they hold up to Torrance’s sun and marine air better than most composites we’ve pulled out of the ground.
Which Tamko Models This Applies To

Tamko makes two fence product families you’ll find in Torrance yards: the EverGrain composite line and the Envision vinyl line. EverGrain pickets come in 5/8-inch and 3/4-inch thicknesses, and that quarter-inch difference matters more than you’d think. If you try to slide a 3/4-inch picket into an older 5/8-inch channel, it won’t seat, and forcing it cracks the channel. We measure every existing channel before we quote so you don’t pay for the wrong stock.
Look for the Tamko imprint on the back of a picket or the inside edge of a rail. Envision vinyl usually carries a small “Envision” stamp near the bottom rail. If the stamp is faded, pull one picket and measure its width: EverGrain is almost always 5.5 inches wide, while Envision pickets run 6 inches. Aftermarket equivalents exist, and for some older Tamko colors we’ll suggest them honestly. But for structural pieces like posts and top rails, we use Tamko OEM. The aftermarket post caps we’ve tested fade faster in Torrance sun than the factory caps, and you’ll see the difference within two summers on a south-facing fence line.

Signs Your Tamko Fence Installation Is Failing
- A post leans more than a few degrees after heavy rain. Torrance’s clay-heavy soil expands when wet and shifts posts that were set without enough concrete depth. The fix is usually post replacement with a deeper footing, not just straightening.
- Pickets crack or split along the top edge. Composite expands and contracts in direct sun. If the original installer nailed instead of screwed the pickets, the board has no room to move and splits at the fastener holes. We see this most on west-facing Torrance fences that catch the afternoon heat off the ocean breeze.
- The gate drags or won’t latch by late summer. Wood framing inside a vinyl or composite gate absorbs humidity differently than the Tamko shell. When the frame swells, the gate sags. Sometimes it’s a hinge adjustment. More often the frame has started to rot where sprinklers hit it.
- Bottom rails droop between posts. Tamko rails span a maximum of 6 feet on most configurations. Stretch that to 8 and the rail bows within a year. We’ve corrected several Torrance fences where the previous installer “made it work” and left the owner with a wavy bottom line.
- Color fading is uneven, especially around sprinkler heads. Municipal water spots and mineral buildup accelerate fading on the lower third of the fence. It’s cosmetic, but if you’re replacing one section anyway, matching the weathered color takes care.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

The $3,500 – $9,000 range for Tamko fence installation in Torrance covers almost all standard residential jobs. A smaller yard, 40 to 60 linear feet with one gate, usually lands near the bottom. A larger yard with multiple gates, old fence removal, and difficult access pushes toward the top. The biggest variables are linear footage, gate count, and whether we’re pulling concrete footings from the old posts.
Every quote is a written, line-item price before work starts. You’ll see materials separated from labor, and you’ll know exactly what the haul-away charge is. There are no change orders once we start unless you ask us to change something. The installation is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if anything we installed fails within a year, we return and fix it at no charge.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely replace a single cracked picket yourself if you match the width and thickness, have a helper, and use the right screws. What we tell Torrance homeowners to avoid doing alone is removing a post set in concrete. That’s a two-person job with a digging bar, and the moment the post lets go, it wants to swing. I’ve watched a homeowner’s thumb get the worst of that exact moment. Isaac Pruett, our owner, puts it this way: “You should know what’s happening in your home before anyone starts work – that’s just the job.”
Gate rebuilds, post replacement, and anything involving electrical lines near the fence (some Torrance yards have low-voltage landscape wiring stapled to the bottom rail) are worth a pro. Call us at (424) 337-6939 and we’ll come look at the actual condition before recommending anything.
FAQs

Twenty to twenty-five years is realistic for Tamko composite and vinyl in Torrance’s climate, assuming the posts were set deep enough and the rails were spaced correctly at original installation. The biggest lifespan killer here is sprinkler overspray at the base of the posts.
Yes, and we do partial repairs often. If the posts are still solid and the rails match, we can replace one side, one section, or just a few pickets. If the posts are shifting or the rails are bowed, a patch job will fail again inside a year, and we’ll tell you that before you spend the money. Call (424) 337-6939 for an exact look at your fence and a written range.
Most standard Torrance installations take two to three working days, including removal of the old fence and haul-away. Rain in the winter can extend that, but we don’t leave a yard half-fenced overnight unless you’ve asked us to phase the work.
We keep common EverGrain and Envision pickets, top rails, post caps, and gate hinges in our Torrance inventory. Specialty colors and gate kits sometimes require a few days’ order time. Alongside Tamko, we also stock parts for KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone lines since we handle those brands on remodeling jobs.
