Unilock Fence Installation: The Torrance Owner’s Guide

Unilock fence installation in Torrance typically runs $3,500 – $9,000 installed, depending on linear footage, site prep, and the specific Unilock wall or post system you’re working with. We stock Unilock-compatible components and can usually schedule your installation within a week. Most owners discover a problem the same way: a post has shifted after winter rains, a section is leaning toward a neighbor’s property line, or freeze-thaw cycles near the coast have done slow damage that finally became visible. If you’re standing next to a fence that’s listing, you’re in the right place.

We’re an independent Torrance contractor, not affiliated with Unilock, but we work with their product lines regularly. Isaac Pruett has been on enough job sites to know that a failing fence part is rarely a mystery: someone used the wrong base, skimped on drainage, or mixed product lines that weren’t meant to go together. We’ll tell you straight what you’re looking at.

Which Unilock Models This Applies To

Unilock’s fence and post systems span a few distinct product families, and compatibility is the first gotcha we run into on Torrance job sites. The Brussels Dimensional System, Richcliff, and U-Cara lines all take different post caps, inserts, and base courses. You can’t always swap a post from one line into a wall from another and expect it to sit right. On the truck we carry the common post cores, cap units, and adhesive for Richcliff and Brussels because those show up most often in South Bay yards. If you’re holding a piece with a stamped name or a six-digit code on the underside, that’s the fastest way for us to match it.

OEM versus aftermarket matters with Unilock more than most brands. Their color blends, especially the weathered browns and charcoal tones, are proprietary. An aftermarket post that’s “close enough” in color will read wrong in direct Torrance sun. For structural pieces, we’ll recommend OEM every time. For hidden components like post anchors or foam base panels, a quality aftermarket equivalent works fine and saves real money. We’ll show you both options with prices before any work begins.

The Unilock system is modular by design, but that doesn’t mean forgiving. Base course tolerance is tight, and a post set even half an inch out of plumb shows up as a wave in the finished wall line. We set every post against a string line and check it twice. That’s just the job.

Signs Your Unilock Fence Installation Is Failing

  • Leaning posts near a retaining edge. This is almost always water. Torrance’s marine-layer moisture and occasional heavy rain saturate the base, and if the post was set without proper drainage, the whole assembly starts to drift. The lean is the symptom; the missing drainage is the disease.
  • Cracked cap units after a hot spell. Unilock pavers and caps expand and contract with temperature swings. When there’s no expansion joint or the adhesive was applied too rigidly, the top course cracks before anything else. We see this most often on west-facing fence lines that get afternoon heat off the water.
  • Gaps opening between courses. A gap that wasn’t there a year ago usually means the base has settled or frost heave pushed a section up. Once one course separates, water gets in and accelerates the problem. Waiting doesn’t make it cheaper.
  • Wobbling gate posts. Gate posts take live load every time the gate opens and closes. If one wiggles, the post base has likely lost its bond with the concrete footing. This is the part you want addressed sooner rather than later, because a gate post failure can damage the fence panel and the latch hardware in one go.
  • White mineral buildup at the base. Efflorescence is cosmetic on its own, but the moisture that causes it is not. It means water is sitting against the block longer than it should. That same moisture is what eventually destroys the adhesive and loosens the post.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A remodeled primary suite with built-in wardrobes and a window seat

For a typical Torrance fence installation using Unilock posts and panels, you’re looking at $3,500 – $9,000. The spread comes down to three things: linear footage, the condition of the existing base, and the Unilock series you’re matching. A 30-foot run with clean base work trends toward the low end. A 60-plus-foot run with a failing base, old concrete to remove, or slope correction pushes toward the top of the range, and occasionally beyond if retaining work is involved.

What’s included in our pricing: removal and haul-away of the failing section, base preparation and drainage, all Unilock components, adhesive, post anchors, labor, and cleanup. Every line item is on the written price before work starts. No change orders because we missed something on the walkthrough. The work is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if anything isn’t right within a year, we return and fix it at no cost. You should know what’s happening in your home before anyone starts work. That goes for your fence, too.

DIY or Call Us?

Here’s the honest split. You can safely do the assessment: walk the line, mark the leaning posts, note where water pools after rain, and take photos of any stamped numbers on the blocks. That information helps us quote accurately and fast. What you shouldn’t do is attempt to reset a Unilock post yourself. Unilock posts are heavy, the base course has to be perfect, and a post that’s not plumb means the whole section comes back out. We’ve fixed enough well-intentioned DIY resets in Torrance to know it costs more in the end than a professional install from the start.

If you want us to handle it, call (424) 337-6939. We’ll set a walkthrough, put the written price in your hands, and schedule the work around your household. You’ll know exactly who’s coming, what it costs, and when it’ll be done.
